Jayhawks Win the Region

Updated: Jun 30, 2022

The Jayhawks Rugby Football Club have won the East Regional tournament 17-10 against Texas State. A tough, physical contest resulted in a Jayhawk W and win over a solid Texas State team. Tries by Trevor Lister and Chandler Owens propelled the Jayhawks to a signature win to give them a spot in the national final in Arlington, Texas. After a long, hard building into a tier 1 program the Jayhawks showed out against two tough teams from Texas to have a national title bout…in Texas.

The boys are further proving themselves as a strong, concise, and fully melded team, showing that they can compete against the best programs in the USA. Strong, physical, bend but don’t break defense has been their calling, and I look forward (as a proud alum) to seeing how they do in the final. Up the Hawks, they’re for real and they’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.
