Yesterday concluded what turned out to be a very exciting NFL Draft. Quarterbacks seemed to fall out of favor, trades a plenty, and plenty of steals made for a great three days in Vegas. One such team that won big in Sin City was a team that’s pretty used to winning in Vegas, the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs covered all their needs within the first 3 rounds, getting players that they never thought would fall to them. One of the top corners in the draft Trent McDuffie, a strong, physical, pass rushing EDGE in George Karlaftis, and a speedster wide receiver in Skyy Moore all went to the Chiefs for a much lower draft spot than projected. Then from there it was just bolstering said needs and addressing the lesser needs in running back and tackle. In my opinion, the ONLY thing the Chiefs could have done to make it better, is if they had picked up a tight end as well to back up Travis Kelce, but it definitely seemed like tight ends were at a premium this year so I’m definitely not mad. The Chiefs had a fantastic draft and I am so excited to see how these guys translate to the NFL. These are the guys expected for the long haul and expected to help this already stout Chiefs team become the dynasty it was projected to be back in 2019. We shall watch with intent to see how these guys make an impact, but I am unexpectedly over the moon with how this draft went. Veach truly hit it out of the park and the Chiefs shall remain a force to be reckoned with in the league.
