BURNING QUESTION: Reactions to Chiefs' Trade Deadline?

The NFL trade deadline has came and went, and with no moves being made by the Chiefs after a bad loss to the lowly Denver Broncos, highlighted by the poor wide receiver play and offensive production, has left a bad taste in a few mouths. There were plenty of options at wide receiver on the table for the Chiefs, however, only unfounded rumors circulated of the Chiefs even looking at any of the receivers on the trade market. It's not like the Chiefs don't have the capital either, plenty of draft picks as well as guys like Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Ritchie James, and others were mentioned as potential player trade options. No dice though, but was it for lack of trying or lack of finding a deal that would give the Chiefs good leverage? We may not know the entire story, but by some accounts, the Chiefs simply sat on their hands and did nothing.

What does the Chiefs' fanbase think of this? Well, many are quite perturbed at the news that the Chiefs simply did nothing. When you have options on the table, realistic options that provide immediate impact, and don't capitalize, you're going to make people upset. Veach, among everyone else, knows this, but is he wrong this time? Has #VeachBlackMagic run out?

My personal opinion is that Brett Veach may have made the wrong decision here, but we won't know that until the season is finished, and maybe even longer after that. We've known that Veach plays the long game, the development game, for a long time now, and this is no different. A reminder that Chris Jones still does need to get paid, the Chiefs are not out of the woods there. Not only that, but many guys will need pay day to stay next year, L'Jarius Sneed, Nick Bolton, and Creed Humphrey, among others. Perhaps even Travis Kelce too. The fact of the matter is Veach wants to pay his guys that he knows can play, a trade deadline deal has potential to have an impact (He did pick up guys like Terrell Suggs, Carlos Dunlap, and others at the deadline, mind you) but Veach trusts the guys that are there now more than guys that can be here and be either boom or bust. It's no guarantee that any player brought in will have an impact and the development of players already there is controllable. If guys like Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and others don't develop soon, then we can crucify Brett, but for now, there's a reason he's in the job and we aren't. Give it time, one bad loss has happened pretty much every year for these Chiefs. The Colts last year, the Titans had their number in 2019 and 2021, and let's not even begin to talk about the times BEFORE Patrick Mahomes and Brett Veach. The Chiefs will be fine, don't hit the panic button yet. It is frustrating that there's seemingly no immediate solution to what the Chiefs have going on (There truly isn't) but trust in the guys that have been to 3 Super Bowls in 5 years and won 2 of them. It'll be alright...

However, what do you think? Any thoughts regarding these recent developments for the Chiefs? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
